Marilyn Poscic

Marilyn Poscic

At the June luncheon, AZHCC member and dedicated volunteer Marilyn Poscic overheard her co-worker explain to a new attendee that buying raffle tickets was a great investment because, among the other wonderful prizes, “you might win a session with Marilyn.”

“That’s nice, but what does Marilyn do?” asked the visitor.

“I talk to angels and dead people,” Marilyn piped up with her typical big grin.  Among her many talents, she is a world renowned messenger for angels and a medium for those who have crossed over as well as a teacher and a psychic counselor.  And you may be interested to know that the woman who asked the question did win a reading from Marilyn that day.  “Oh, I love the Universe,” exclaimed Marilyn when she saw who had won.  It certainly seems as though there are no accidents!

Marilyn, however, did not start out as an Angel Messenger.  She was born and raised in Canton, Ohio, which she proudly reminds you is the home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.  She studied pre-med at Ohio University before training as an X-ray Technician at Timken Mercy Hospital.  For the next 6years, she worked as a Tech at Alliance City hospital, in Alliance Ohio.

Marilyn was not thrilled with the Ohio weather, however…especially the blizzards of 1977 and 1979.  So, in November 1980, she and a colleague from the hospital where they were employed gave notice, packed up their Hondas (one Civic and one Prelude) and headed for Phoenix.  Marilyn worked in a variety of medical facilities, doctors’ offices, X-ray facilities, private clinics and hospitals, around the valley from 1980 to 1995 rounding out her 20 year career.  Her last job as an X-ray Tech was at the Federal Prison on Pioneer Road.

In 1992, Marilyn moved to Cave Creek with her husband, her 3 dogs and her 2 horses.  In 1995, she decided to become a realtor.  Then in August of that year, her brother died.  He was only 34 and his death started her questioning what happens after a person dies.  She couldn’t understand why her brother who was married with a young child and who went to church every Sunday should die while she was still alive.

Looking for answers, Marilyn read the book Embraced by the Light which began to open her psychic abilities.  In 1998, she went to a Doreen Virtue seminar and learned more about what happens after death and about how to communicate with angels. “I didn’t know angel messengers existed,” she explains, shaking her head.

In 1998, she travelled to Boston to open many kiosks in malls selling Metabolife, a dietary supplement. Her manager, who had traveled with her, was psychic, but scared of it.  On a Sunday, Marilyn was relaxing when her manager saw a great big white light around her.  “It was like the show Touched by an Angel, at the end when there is a big white light — but I was watching TV and drinking a beer,” explains Marilyn.  She was frightened so she called upon Archangel Michael for protection, which her manger also saw.  That was the beginning.  Then she began to play with what she could see.  She would see someone’s Angel or deceased loved one and be able to describe them and get the messages.

After working four months in Boston, Marilyn returned to Cave Creek. When she was with her friends, she could see people around them. “I could tell them things that I knew but no one else did,” Marilyn remembers.  “Some people thought that was cool and others thought I was crazy.”

Then one day in an Applebee’s, Marilyn looked around and saw dead people around everyone — and ‘it freaked me out.”  The friend who had taken her to see Doreen Virtue previously recommended that Marilyn learn Reiki.

“Why do I have to learn how to dance?” asked a bewildered Marilyn.

“Not Reggae…Reiki!” laughed her friend.

So Marilyn enrolled in a three day intensive Reiki Master course along with a group of chiropractors, massage therapists and acupuncturists.  One day the teacher asked each of her students to tell why they were there.  “When she got to me, I said because I see dead people,” Marilyn recalls, “and she said, ‘You are a powerful healer, just starting to come into your own’.”

The Reiki class awakened in Marilyn a thirst for more knowledge about mediumship and Spirit.  She worked with many excellent psychics and took a variety of classes – “anything to learn more.  I took to it like a duck to water,” she admits.

Then in 2002, Marilyn left her husband.  “I felt he was holding me back.  I realized that the more I released those I loved, the more it opened me up.”  In fact between 1995 when her brother crossed over and 2009, Marilyn experienced 13 deaths of those dear to her.

Perhaps, one of the most significant was the death of her mother in November 2009. When her mother had a major stroke, Marilyn devoted five months just to taking care of her. Her soon to be published book, Surviving my Last Surviving Relative, is the result of all she learned from that experience.  “If it helps one person not to have to go through the pain – the agony of having to move a loved one around from hospital to care facilities – to deal with the financial problems and the non-communication of doctors,” emphasizes Marilyn, “if it helps one person, then I’ve done my job.”

“When mom passed away,” she continues, “it was 11:30 pm and I was sitting with several friends on the back patio when I saw a big flash of white light in the sky.  It was like lightning, but we don’t have lightning in Phoenix in November.  I knew it was mom saying ‘I made it all right’.”

After her mom’s passing, Marilyn got back into readings and classes full time and has been focused on them ever since.  “One of my greatest joys is to see the light in people’s eyes when they ‘get it’ in readings and classes,” she enthuses.  “I love to teach others to do their own readings so they can get their own answers for themselves or for their loved ones.  I’ve taught around the U.S. in schools, colleges, churches, expos….anywhere I can.  And I want to do more classes – as many as I can.  There is a huge need for more information about angels, and a vast need for more knowledge about spiritual work in general.” Marilyn lovingly refers to the angels as “the guys.”

And there’s no denying her passion for what she does.  “I want to touch as many people as I can; to help everyone find his or her own true Inner Self.  When they leave a class or a reading, I want it to be with knowledge that can really help them in life.  I love to send people on their way with their own Angel’s Wings, allowing them to receive the true meaning of their own spiritual connection.” And indeed, as the testimonials she has gotten attest, Marilyn has helped thousands of people over the years to find their own spiritual guidance by connecting them to their inner truth and to find comfort, closure and peace through receiving messages from their deceased loved ones.

Marilyn teaches a variety of classes including Angel Awakenings; Angel Medicine; Chakra Understanding; Balancing and Protection; Tuning into Your Own Psychic Self; Animal Totems; and Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Words, Change Your World.  She currently holds classes at Rio Salado Community College, the Unitarian Church and Poppy’s in Mesa, but is looking for assistance in finding more places to teach.  She also participates in parties in private homes, giving fifteen minute reading for guests, and if there are eight people or more, the hostess gets a free half hour reading.

Marilyn came to an AZHCC meeting first in 2010, but the time wasn’t right.  In February 2012, she and a girlfriend came to a luncheon to hear K.C. Miller speak and both signed up on the spot.  In March, she brought 3 more people to lunch and they all joined as well.  With her typical enthusiasm, Marilyn has plunged into Chamber activities.  She is in charge of much of the logistics for the Sampler Platter activities, overseeing vendors, registration, room arrangement and helping to promote the events. She is also on the steering committee and will be a presenter for The Real Double Ds of Life – Death and Dying – Conference which AZHCC is sponsoring in February 2013.

What is it about this spunky Angel Messenger that you don’t know?  For one thing, she loves the outdoors.  Besides playing golf, Marilyn loves horseback riding, snorkeling, boating and camping.  She also loves visiting Tahiti and Bora Bora.  Ask her about the 12 day cruise she took and she’ll be happy to give you the details.  And she thinks that no one will ever guess looking at her that she once owned a machine shop with her now ex-husband.

As to her choices for a last meal on the planet, they are nothing if not eclectic.  “I’d have chateaubriand and lobster for the main course,” she begins.  “Oh, and a pepperoni pizza with extra cheese for the appetizer. For dessert, crème brulee, and a Cosmo to accompany it all.”

If you’re interested in having a reading with Marilyn or attending one of her classes, check out her website at www.awakeningangels.com or call her at 623-879-9750.  Marilyn is also offering a special for AZHCC members.  If you refer 3 people who complete a half hour to one hour reading, then you receive a half hour reading yourself free.  Maybe you’d like to get together with friends and have an Angel Messenger party in your home?  Perhaps you’d like more information about the Sampler Platters or the Double D Conference in February?  There are many good reasons to contact Marilyn or visit with her at an AZHCC event, not the least of which is that she is witty, entertaining, and a delightful person to know.
